Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have recently implemented a revised policy concerning the collection of biometrics for applicants seeking Canadian
permanent residence.
Effective June 14, all individuals applying for permanent residence (PR) are now required to submit biometrics, regardless of whether they have previously submitted them for a temporary residence permit.
This policy update signifies a return to pre-pandemic procedures for permanent resident applications by IRCC. During the COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC temporarily waived the need for PR applicants to provide biometrics if they had already submitted them in conjunction with a temporary resident application within the past 10 years.
